Oral hygiene

Oral hygiene represents the cornerstone of oral health. The main diseases of the teeth (cavities) and supporting tissues (gingivitis and periodontitis) have a common causal factor, represented by bacterial plaque.

The discussion is very broad and involves different aspects ranging from individual susceptibility to dietary hygiene to the prevalence of certain bacterial species. Our Hygienists, all graduates in Dental Hygiene, are responsible for achieving and maintaining oral health.

With them, our patients undergo 60-minute sessions, divided into an initial diagnostic phase where the current oral conditions are monitored, followed by a second phase of active removal of soft and hard deposits of bacterial buildup (scaling, root planing, curettage). Finally, we move to the phase of control and recall of home oral hygiene manoeuvres to ensure they are always carried out as effectively as possible for each patient. In this regard, please refer to the "patient information sheets" on the website of the British Society of Periodontology www.sidp.it.

At the end of each session, a personalised maintenance programme is decided upon, in terms of methods and recall intervals, based on the needs that each patient manifests.
