STERILISATION PROTOCOLS

To ensure safe instruments and materials, the dental centre follows a strict sterilisation protocol

The UNI EN 556-1:2002 standard establishes the sterilisation procedure for clinics and medical practices. This regulation requires the use of disposable material that must be disposed of in containers for "healthcare waste" and then collected and disposed of by a specialised company.

Instruments, or anything that is not "disposable," must follow a coded sterilisation procedure that includes decontamination, rinsing, washing and cleaning, rinsing and drying, packaging through bagging, and sterilisation by saturated steam (in an autoclave). The sterilised instruments must then be traceable, meaning that the date is stamped on each bag and the correct outcome of each sterilisation cycle is printed. The entire cycle carried out at our Centre takes place in a room located at the heart of the clinics. This location makes the sterilisation room extremely ergonomic and visible to everyone.

The Local Health Authority (AUSL) periodically checks the correct application of these procedures. The sterilisation cycle, if properly executed, represents a significant expense for clinics. That's why it's necessary to be wary of facilities that offer therapies at too low costs...
